She smiles back, arms still wrapped around him, affection obvious in her expression. Bobbie leans into his touch, sighing contentedly. "Technically it would have been me ripping the stitches. You're off the hook.
It's incredible, the fact that she can look that contented, that pleased,
and have it be because of him. It's almost unbelievable, and
probably would have been, if he hadn't been so very present for the build
up to it.
"Pretty sure I'd be at least partially responsible," He chuckled, lowly,
and smiled so wide it hurt. He hovered, for a second, fingers brushing down
her cheek next to her ear, but couldn't stop himself from leaning in again.
Couldn't help but take another kiss, long and slow and deep, trying to
press every ounce of happiness that was blooming in him back into that
kiss.
It isn't often that someone gives her butterflies. In fact, she can't remember the last time anyone did, but Alex manages it. She kisses him back, relaxing as she does, untangling one hand from the fabric of his jumpsuit to cup his cheek. When she finally forces herself to pull back, she can't stop herself from grinning, leaning forward to rest her forehead against his.
The breath he lets out is half a groan, as her forehead rests against his, and he gives her a helpless smile in return.
"You're makin' it god damned hard to take care of you, Gunny," he accused lowly, even as it made his heart ache with fondness and affection. "I promise I'll make sure takin' care of that wound worth it, too."
It sends a lick of fire down his spine and straight to his groin again, though he is trying very valiantly to completely ignore the entire region south of his beltline at the moment.
He's failing.
"Depends who's bunk you were thinking about," He replies, a cheeky grin to go with it, before he forces himself to pull back about. "Ain't a reason you have to stay here, unless you want easy access to the pain meds."
Bobbie is being entirely innocent at the moment, although her mind seems to insist on wandering to the same place his does. She can't help it, not when he was on top of her just a few minutes ago.
"Mind if I borrow yours?" It's not the best idea, and she knows this ship has enough empty beds for about twenty more people, but she's not quite ready to be separated from him yet.
His heart thumps, despite himself, despite the fact that he knows perfectly well what a bad idea that is.
Tonight, anyway.
Not in general.
Because now that he's thinking about it, he's thinking about sliding into his bunk every night and having Bobbie there, too, and it's not even anything sexual that he's thinking, just the simple act of being able to sleep with her next to him, and his heart flutters erratically.
"... I'd like that," He admits, after a few seconds, the teasing flirtation gone, and nothing but an incredibly earnest desire left behind.
The sudden earnestness catches her off guard, and her smile softens. She knows he's a sap, but sometimes he still gets her. It's endearing and sweet in a way that makes her ache with affection.
Ugh, seeing her smile like that at him isn't making the whole attempt to be calm and unaffected any easier. He leans in, stealing another quick kiss before pulling back fully, this time, and holding his arms out do that she could use them as leverage, if she wanted.
"Alright. Come on, then. Before anyone else comes to and makes me try to explain why I'm kidnapping a marine from the med bay."
"I hope you ain't actually expectin' me to keep this a secret, cause I'll admit, a complete stranger could get me to sing about it, right now." And he'm slide his hand over hers on his arm as he leads her out.
It's not a far walk, though there are two flights of stairs. His bunk is homier than the last time she was here, as if he's settled down into it, and he leads her to the bed.
"Think after tryin' to hold all that blood in, I'm allowed to fuss a little," he replied, his heart thumping a beat and a half too fast as she leaned against him.
Carefully, he slid an arm behind her back, resting his hand on her hip as he leaned in and pressed a kiss to her forehead.
"Mm. That buys you an hour of fussing. Maybe two." And she thinks he's skated past that already. She definitely doesn't mind this, though, so she closes her eyes and wraps her arms around his middle, turning towards him, face still buried in the crook of his neck.
That urgent need from before is gone, but something else has slid in it's
place, just as strong. He doesn't try to name it. He just breathes in
deeply, pressing his face into her hair.
"I think I get at least a day," he murmured quietly. "Think that's more
than fair."
Bobbie settles against him, utterly content for the first time since this whole thing started. She thinks she'd be happy staying here, just like this, forever, and she presses a kiss against his neck.
It makes his heart feel too large for his chest, as if it's pressing at his ribs and trying to escape - a pleasure almost edging on the painful, just from how deeply it's cutting into him. He breathes slow, his heart beating a little too irregularly.
He's suddenly overwhelmed by about a hundred things he wants to tell her, none of which he could actually say. Not yet, anyway. Even though he feels them, intensely. Deeply. He is not going to fuck this up. Not now.
So instead he just breathes, and presses another slow, gentle kiss to her forehead, the hand around her waist pulling her that fraction of an inch closer.
She's not sure when she turned into such a sap, but she's thinking the blame falls squarely on Alex. Her heart skips a beat when he kisses her again. It's such a chaste thing, but it's the obvious, intense affection that gets her. He pulls her closer and she tightens her grip, smoothing a hand down his spine.
"How long do I have with you before Holden steals you away for something?"

"You got somewhere else you want to be?" He asked, almost teasingly.

"You can hot as much as you like, long as you don't pull your stitches lose." Those are his terms, Bobbie. "Deal?"

He watches her sit down, a hand hovering over her shoulder.
"You only have to ask," he replies warmly, smiling, though there's a slightly worried note to his expression.
"You need anythin'? Fresh clothes, maybe?"
